BOLT Reflection: Extreme Numbers

Numbers something the human mind comes up with to make life a little easier. Numbers are ways of measuring something or keeping track of an amount. But when we uses numbers to calculate things, how can we tell if those things are big? How do we know if they're small? In this BOLT we came up with things we thought were big and things we thought were small. By looking at the things our group came up with and having to find a number that describes it in some way, (galaxy: amount of stars, how big etc.) but also looking at how some things compared to others are bigger or smaller. You could say the Great Wall of China is big compared to a person, but it's small compared to the sun. People are small compared to the earth or the galaxy but big compared to an atom. We learned that it's all about our perspective on different things. One thing will always be smaller to some things and bigger to others when you start comparing them. I really enjoyed this BOLT because it changed my view on things in the world and my view on numbers.
